A true bargain

Just when you thought you couldn’t get something for nothing, this little app comes along and shows you that you can at least get something pretty good for next to nothing.
I have a copy of Roxio Toast Titanium. Wouldn’t you think that for the large amount of money it costs, it would be able to convert a WAV file into an MP3? If so, you’d be mistaken.
I needed something to occasionally perform batch conversions of audio files. Aucio-Convertor does it rapidly and without fanfare. It’s interface is quite simple. The codecs and formats include all that I ever use. Perhaps the only thing I’ve found that distinguishes it from the expensive apps is the absence of Variable Bit Rate encoding for MP3s, but that’s nothing I can’t live without and certainly no reason to deduct a star from an unpretentious app that’s as inexpensive as this one.
Had it been costly, I might not have felt compelled to review it. Because of the almost unbelievably low price, though, I want to give credit where credit’s due.
